Early in 2011 Christina and Scott Duncan commissioned me to photograph places they had lived in and loved during their nineteen years in Los Angeles. I agreed but asked that we approach it as a collaborative project. Instead of working from a list of locations I asked that they tell me stories and give me context for what I was doing. We spent several weekend days driving from place to place and as we drove they told me why these places were important to them and what they felt about them. With their stories as my guideline I photographed and finished these images seeking the best way to capture their memories. The final outcome is fifteen prints they chose to represent their lives in Los Angeles. These prints will hang as a group in their new home in Virginia to remind them of what they loved and had to leave behind. This gallery contains the fifteen final images and also a few of the alternates I made to give them context
